Scavenger Hunt

I had the pleasure of tasting the food for the California Wine Fair this week. The Shaw Convention Centre held the tasting, and it was paired with 4 California Wines. It was a delightful way to spend a Thursday lunch - loving this corporate world malarkey!!

I've been experimenting with textures in Photoshop thanks to Kim Klassen's Cafe tutorials (see button below).  I'm really enjoying playing with her free textures and I have found a great online site that gives them away for free.

Scavenger Hunt - Just in the Nick of Time!

3.Bright White

I wish this character said 'White'. That would be very cool. It is actually just the sound 'MA'.I wrote this calligraphy on the fan while I was in Japan last July.

4. Strong

When I broke my arm earlier this year, a friend gave me this motivational container. It has band aids inside. I took the photo in front of my 'Long Distance Relationship' book. We had to be strong for many years to see that our relationship survived the distance. No band aid needed, we made it.

5. Warmth

Some days, I wish I had fur like Quatchi to keep me warm in Edmonton. 

Scavenger Hunt

1. Texture

At Wirra Wirra winery in McLaren Vale, there was a 2 story high 'wine bottle' made out of corks (see 'Hangin' in the Vale' post). I love the texture of corks and am a little sad that they are being fazed out, but in the name of better wine I guess I can accept screw-top bottles.

2. Fog

Last night in Edmonton, they held an Illuminations festival in Churchill Square. This was the finale: an acrobat was suspended high off the ground in a spinning wheel, while many fireworks burst around her. I guess this is linked to 'fog' because of all the smoke that was in the sky. Don't hate me for the pathetic connection!

3. Button

This was the first scarf I ever made. I attached the biggest button I could find on it to finish it off.

4. Beverage

Such an expressive face. I sometimes feel like I am dating an Anime character. Chad is clearly not enjoying the red wine in his plastic cup.

5. Seventies

This is a photo of a photo; my mum got married in the 70's. She had a medieval themed dress. You can't get much more 70's than that.

Scavenger Hunt

Phew! It has been a busy week...So much to blog about, but I have been working a lot...and I am still not over my jet-lag. I will play catch-up this week! Hope you like the photos so far...Most of them are from my trip home to Australia. 

1. Memories

While I was home this time, I took photos of my grandparents wedding album. They look so happy in this photo.

2. Silhouette

I couldn't decide once again, so here are two of my favourite silhouette shots from our McLaren Vale trip. More of that trip to come soon!

 The Salopian Inn. Amazing duck fat chips. Cleansing Ales. Fine Wines.

4. Reflection

This photo was also taken in McLaren Vale at the Salopian Inn, home of VALE ALE, a new beer company. A cleansing ale here would ensure the rest of the days tastings went down smoothly.

5. Silver

The name of this beach is 'Silver Sands'. It was like swimming in a salt-water bath.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday: January 16

Chad and I arrived home to -24 and a metre of snow on our balcony. In 20 hours we did a 50 degree swing and went from swimming at Manly beach to trudging through snow drifts. I will wrap up our Aussie adventure with pictures and stories after I get over my jet-lag.  I wanted to quickly post some scavenger hunt pics so that I can get back into the swing of Life-In-Edmonton.

1. A Different View

Chad, my family and I traveled to the James Well Crab Jazz and Shiraz festival on Yorke Peninsula, approximately 1.5 hours west of Adelaide. Due to the inclement weather, the little crabs are not growing as fast as they normally should, so there were no crabs to eat at the festival. We ate chicken instead. This is the closest I came to eating a crab at the festival. Luckily, there was lots of Shiraz and jazz to keep us entertained.

2. Looking Up

I quickly snapped this seagull whilst taking a walk on the beach at James Well.

3. Abstract

The water fountain at Manly Beach's outdoor shopping mall.

4. Hair

Tex the dog has fluffy hair around her mouth.

5. Half

We went to Max Brenner chocolate shop in Manly. Little Anna had half her babycino all over her face.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday: Better Late Than Never

1. Family

It wouldn't be a trip home to Australia if we didn't sit at Pop's Bar drinking his home brew. This particular day, I brought over the port I received for my graduation in 2000.

He was most happy.

2. Motion Blur

This action shot is of my two beautiful sisters looking less-than stunning on Xmas day. Georgia (Left) won a stick-on mo' in her bon-bon's. Not wanting to be left out, Jasmin drew her very own mo' on her finger. Laughter and a bad dancing photo shoot ensued.

 3. Pretty Package

 The centre piece of our Christmas Dinner table.

4. Glow

It's a long shot, but Jasmin is definitely glowing in this picture.

5.Sparkle

I feel like we have done sparkle, so I am throwing in a curve ball...
I feel like I "sparkle" when I am by the ocean...Cheesy, but will have to do!

Scavenger Hunt Dec. 4th

This is my last Canadian scavenger hunt before I head Down Under for a 6 week vacay with the family. My next post will be from Adelaide, Australia.

On a more somber note, I am having no luck with cameras lately...I just got my DSLR back from Nikon (very happy), but managed to lose my Nikon Coolpix S600 in a cab in Vancouver on the weekend (very not happy)...Oopsies! I lost a lot of fun Friday night pseudo-family dinner pics and after snapping Granville street at 3am I jumped into a cab and left it on the seat when I got out...Perhaps I had too many Christmas libations...I don't care about the hardware, but I would have liked to have seen the drunken snaps I took...the photos are now memories imprinted in my mind and a little harder to share on a photography blog. The sad thing is that the cash I was going to use for a flash will now go toward getting a new Nikon. Bah humbug!

2. It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like...

Our friend, Kam has created a winter wonderland in his house in Vancouver. I saw the Citadel Theatre's version of 'A Christmas Carol' last week, and thought this guy looked like Bob Cratchett. Where's Tiny Tim?

 3. A Sweet Treat

It isn't a trip to Vancouver without a taster at the Granville Island tasting rooms. This is their winter treat, a chocolate stout. Nice, Nice, Very Nice.

 

4. Time

Movember in December...Chad was proud of his mo. It takes time to cultivate and create a mo that is worthy of keeping into December...he kept it to show his mates in Vancouver. This is the last photo of the mo before it got shaved off.

 

5. Everyday

My favourite place in Vancouver is Spanish Banks. I could look at this view everyday and live right here for the rest of my life. This view is so amazing that I had to include 2 pictures.
